The 'Walk-Away'...

I went to see about buying a new car today.....and I know for most people this is a dreaded affair...but not for me. I adore the haggling and negotiating. I love to have a poker face even though I am picturing myself in the car cruising down the road with the windows down and my favorite song on the radio. (there are oddly no children fighting in the back seat in this fantasy). And most of all I love 'the walk-away'. You know where they almost come close to the price you want- but not close enough, so you get up and thank them politely and WALK AWAY. 90% of the time you will have salesmen all but blocking your car to prevent you from leaving the lot....they want to close the deal- and miraculously, after performing said 'walk-away' technique they can always come down to match your price! I told you- I love this stuff! But today was a different story; they couldn't even come remotely close to what I needed in a monthly payment. So there was no drama, no banter, no negotiating.....just me walking to my car to go home. Happily my son came with me on this venture (I wanted him to see his mom in action!)....and he knew I was bummed out....so he said 'mom at least we have a car'.....gosh- he was so right. That got me back to normal- and on my way back home. You know what? Jack and I sang to my favorite song, with the windows down on the way home....and it was perfect.

Our Hamsters......

If you read my profile you will see I mention my sons hamsters. Well for my first photo upload I wanted to introduce you to Google. Yes, you heard me right my youngest son's hamster's name is indeed named after our favorite search engine! The word Google is so much a part of our family vocabulary...."mommy who was the first person to invent the microwave?"...Um, I don't know off the top of my head-..."okay can you Google it?".....and off we go to Google something. Google is our version of a set of encyclopedias (we had a huge set when I was a kid and my mom was always telling me to look something up if I asked her a question with no answer) So when the little hammie came home with us- my son decided to call him Google (although I have been caught calling him 'Googly-Bear' in a baby voice). My older son has a hamster too.....and his name is...envelope please.......PIXEL. Yeah, silliness runs in the family I think.....

Here goes nothing...

Okay people, after numerous other bloggers began to encourage me to start a blog of my own, here it is....perhaps I was leaving too many comments on their sites and they recognized my need for a verbal outlet....either way, I have found myself here. Thanks to all for the encouragement! This should be interesting.... Okay it is 4:20 in the morning. I can't sleep. and naturally what does anyone do when they can't sleep? They start a blog! I always was an over achiever.....hey maybe tomorrow night I will paint the garage! or bake a pie! (any baking reference is a clear joke-I don't bake...but you will learn that about me soon enough....) Let me address the title of my blog: The Glamorous Life. In many ways-I do live the Glamorous Life. I am married, a mother, I drive a neat SUV, I get to take vacations, I can easily afford food and shelter...I have lots of blessings. But you know those days....like when your kid throws up on you in the middle of the night, or you face a mountain of laundry, or you actually are so busy taking care of everyone else in your life you forget to eat. (This is also for comedy sake- I have never forgotten to eat, I have however, forgotten that I have ALREADY eaten!).....you know what I mean....sometimes being me, well, it is NOT so glamorous. So I titled it The Glamorous Life. When I lived in Walnut Creek, CA for 3 years and my children were toddlers I even formed a moms group with a similar title (MY glamorous life). I even made matching shirts for all of us. Yes, I am that lame. Get used to it- there is plenty more lameness to come....
